The La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts (LCCCA) is the brainchild of Mike Cregan, a Santa Barbara resident and businessman. Walking the streets during a visit to New York City, he was impressed by the diverse and stimulating mix of businesses on every block. Many were art galleries and studio spaces.
When Mike returned to Santa Barbara, he decided to create this atmosphere in our community. He negotiated a one-year lease for three empty spaces in La Cumbre Mall. He met with many local artists and eventually found twenty-four diverse and inspired artists to occupy the spaces and LCCCA opened in late 2019, bringing a vibrant environment that breathed life back into a space that has been hit hard by the bricks and mortar retail crash.
In addition to the art on display in their galleries, LCCCA now supports other art forms, such as dance, music and drama – sometimes at our art walks, at other times by holding events in our galleries. And we work cooperatively with the other art related businesses and galleries that have joined us as we all move forward to fulfill Mike’s original dream.
