ABOUT

La Cumbre Center for the Creative Arts (LCCCA)

The brainchild of Mike Cregan, a Santa Barbara resident and businessman, is the La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts (LCCCA.) While he walked the streets of New York City he had an epiphany as he noticed that there was a diverse and stimulating mix of businesses on every block. These often included art galleries and studio spaces.

When he returned to Santa Barbara he went about creating this for our community. Mike arranged a one year lease for three spaces in La Cumbre Mall and brought in twenty four diverse and inspired artists to create a vibrant environment–breathing life back into a space that has been hit hard by the bricks and mortar retail crash. The iconic Tiffany’s was standing lonely and proud amongst the empty stores until it became surrounded by LCCCA!

LCCCA dedicates itself to the mission of bringing the joy and creative energy of an open, connected learning atmosphere to the community while encouraging appreciation for the role the arts play in society. The center provides affordable, artist run, studio and gallery spaces, classes in a variety of mediums and techniques and open doors for the community to witness, support and participate in the creative process.

The Center strives to be inclusive of all art forms, from dance, music and drama to culinary arts. This is how we move forward and retake the spaces that have felt lost and orphaned by our community. Together we can and will create an exciting place to hang out, have fun and thrive.
