MARY THOMPSON

I have loved art all my life and have been creating it since the 1970’s – at first part time, now as a full time activity. I sculpt and paint and find that each medium presents unique challenges and rewards.  My bronze 3D work reflects my fascination with the human form – male and female.  I delight in exploring sculptural possibilities that transcend a literal presentation.  My early work reflects my love of the work of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. More recent work is influenced by Giacometti, yet uniquely expresses my own personal vision – one that is whimsical, imaginative, and feminine.  My paintings are an ongoing exploration of color, line and form. I love bright vivid colors and am intrigued by the relationship between shapes. I often draw my inspiration from the natural world but filter it through an abstractionist lens.
