In late 2016 I moved from Venice to Santa Barbara. My quirky, anamorphic background informs my mixed (up) media art. Growing up with art and architecture I’ve been building and creating out of the proverbial box my entire life. In addition to my studies in sociology, psychology, and art, my career endeavors include business and development, mothering my children, production design, co-owning restaurants (including the renowned Rebecca’s Restaurant designed by Frank Gehry), creativity coaching, montage collage workshops, co-founder of a WLA Art Co-Op. I am also a SoulCollage facilitator, a process for accessing your intuition and creating deep personal meaningful collages help with life’s questions and transitions As a pioneer in the Venice Art Walk, I have collaborated with innovative art movements, such as the Art Studio of Santa Monica, Venice ArtBLOCK, and MOCA Women’s Art Gallery. While I continue to travel to LA to teach biannual workshops, I am committed to evolving the exposure and interactive creative art process at the new LCCCA, in Santa Barbara.
My collage works: As a subtext my mixed media works juxtapose disparate imagery with the enthralling graces of nature, exemplifying my background in Jungian psychology, thus shadows and light. My art often narrates the tender yet volatile intersection of conflicting universal forces such as environmental beauty contrasted by invasive over-development, male / female, birth and decay. I continue to explore the relationships and intersections of these ambiguous archetypal concepts and symbolisms as they fight for viability, space, virtue and fortitude.
Since moving to Santa Barbara, as the current turbulent times exacerbate, exquisite nature surrounding and sources me. The colorful vistas of seascapes and mountains have inspired my new passion of painting abstract landscapes. I am drawn to the light and serenity, and playfulness that is emerging in my works.
